With Japan being the country where anime was born, the country, particularly Tokyo, is FULL of anime themed things to do. One of the most popular and fun anime themed things to do in Tokyo, is visit an anime themed cafe. The city is full of anime themed cafes that are based off of a single anime or character and are completely decorated according to that anime. Located in both Odaiba and Akihabara, the Gundam Cafe is a whole cafe that is dedicated to the popular manga and anime series, ‘Gundam’. The anime is centered around giant robots which is reflected through the way the cafe is decorated, and through the huge Gundam robot statue that is located outside of the Odaiba cafe. The food and drink available at the cafe have all been decorated in a way to reflect the anime and the characters that appear within the series. At the Odaiba cafe, there are cafe lattes available that have characters from the anime printed on top! 2. Pokemon Cafe
The Pokemon cafe is located in Nihonbashi and is a whole cafe that is dedicated to the popular anime and game series ‘Pokemon’. The cafe offers a full menu of Pokemon themed food and drinks, as well as Pokemon decorations and even a live show from ‘Chef Pikachu’! The restaurant sells tons of different foods and drinks including burgers, sweets, coffee, soft drinks and much more! The cafe also sells unique Pokemon merchandise that is in collaboration with the cafe. Although the cafe is a little on the pricey side, it is worth it for such a unique experience that can only be experienced in Japan. 3. Sanrio Cafes
Tokyo is full of cafes that have been based off of various Sanrio characters. Some of the most popular include the Pompompurin Cafe, Cinnamoroll Cafe and the Sanrio Cafe (which features all of the characters). The Sanrio themed cafes are dotted throughout Tokyo and so are easy to access no matter where you are staying in the city. The cafes are each decorated according to their character, offering amazing photo spots and a unique experience. On top of this all the food and drink is decorated in accordance with the character/theme of the cafe. 4. Straw Hat Cafe (Studio Ghibli Cafe)
The ‘Straw Hat Cafe’, also known as the Studio Ghibli Cafe, is located inside the Studio Ghibli museum in Mitaka. Due to this, in order to access the cafe you need to buy tickets to enter the Studio Ghibli Museum (these can easily be purchased online and cost 1000 yen). This is great as it means you can have a whole Studio Ghibli themed day out in Tokyo! The cafe itself sells food and drink that are Studio Ghibli themed, including dishes that were featured in Studio Ghibli movies!! The cafe is decorated in-line with the Studio Ghibli aesthetic, making the whole experience even more enjoyable! 5. Tokyo Revengers Pop Up Cafe
The popular anime ‘Tokyo Revengers’ will be collaborating with Animate Cafe, located in Ikebukuro, to create a whole Tokyo Revengers themed pop up anime cafe! This exact cafe was actually opened up once this year already but due to popularity the cafe is going to be reopened in November. The cafe will be held until December and will include a full Tokyo Revengers themed menu as well as a full range of Tokyo Revengers merchandise!
